Description flavio 2004-05-15 22:37:43 UTC
The Install CD Gentoo 2004.1 it does not detect the Realtek NIC that is included in my Gigabyte Motherboard GA-7VAX.
with #modprobe 8139too it works and I can ping my notebook in lan but no my adsl ethernet modem (192.168.100.1).
With this installation CD I receive a TIMED OUT tryng to start the pppoe connection.
This is really curios because using the Install CD Gentoo 1.4 at the beginning with ifconfig i can not see the eth0 but after the "ADSL-SETUP" "ADSL-START" I found out automatically configured the eth0 the ppp connection and doing a route it automatically setted the default gw to 192.168.100.1. All this without any modprobe!

Newer things are not always better than the older!

No info in quite a while...

adsl-setup should be functioning now anyway... REOPEN if this is not the case with the upcoming 2004.3 release.

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
