Description Paolo Pedroni 2014-05-29 09:33:27 UTC
This happens on my system, where virtual/krb5-0-r1 is provided by app-crypt/heimdal-1.5.3-r2:

# revdep-rebuild -p
 * Configuring search environment for revdep-rebuild

 * Checking reverse dependencies
 * Packages containing binaries and libraries broken by a package update
 * will be emerged.

 * Collecting system binaries and libraries
 * Generated new 1_files.rr

emerge --complete-graph=y --oneshot --keep-going y --with-bdeps y --pretend app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs:0 app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-gtklibs:0

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R   #] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs-20140508-r6
[ebuild   R   #] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-gtklibs-20140508-r1
 * Now you can remove -p (or --pretend) from arguments and re-run revdep-rebuild.

On my other system where virtual/krb5-0-r1 is provided by app-crypt/mit-krb5-1.12.1-r1, everything works fine.

I can see that app-crypt/heimdal has a newer version of the libgssapi library:
# equery f heimdal | grep libgssapi | grep lib32
/usr/lib32/libgssapi.so
/usr/lib32/libgssapi.so.3
/usr/lib32/libgssapi.so.3.0.0

Let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks in advance.

This is a known issue. The prebuilt emul-linux link against the mit-krb5 versions of kerberos libraries. To fix the issue, we'd have to force mit-krb5 and then you couldn't use heimdal :). So instead I've decided to give users a little more freedom at the cost of potentially broken libraries in gtklibs.

Out of curiosity, is there any specific package that pulls in emul-linux-x86-baselibs for you? With the newest multilib packages, most of the systems should be able to depclean it.

OK, then. Sorry if I wasted your time. I take it the the relevant libraries have not been ported to multilib, then, so this issue is going away with time.

app-emulation/wine-1.6.2[cups,ssl]
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-db-20140508-r1
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-gstplugins-20140508
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-gtklibs-20140508-r1
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-soundlibs-20140508
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-xlibs-20140508

are the ones that really depend on emul-linux-x86-baselibs AFAICT. Wine is a matter of updating the ebuild, I guess, since cups and openssl are already multilib. As for the others I don't have time at the moment to trace the dependencies to check which package requires them.

Thanks _a lot_ for your efforts on multilib anyway, it was time. If you'll ever be in northern Italy, I'll gladly buy you a beer or other beverage of your choice (or several, if required).

It's now fine.
