I contacted with Matthew and he told that we should change: - SRC_URI="https://github.com/dotwaffle/${PN}/archive/${PV}.tar.gz -> ${P}.tar.gz" + SRC_URI="https://github.com/dotwaffle/${PN}/tarball/master -> ${P}.tar.gz" Currently rancid-git package duplicate of rancid. To apply patches to make it work with git we should use master branch from github.
It is invalid due to dynamic distfile. What is broken? Do you want 9999 version?
(In reply to Tom Wijsman (TomWij) from comment #1) > It is invalid due to dynamic distfile. What is broken? Do you want 9999 > version? 9999 version? Is it kind of trolling? Not funny. Please read my message one more time. Thanks.
(In reply to Tom Wijsman (TomWij) from comment #1) > It is invalid due to dynamic distfile. What is broken? Do you want 9999 > version? Oh sorry, I'm new in gentoo world. I don't want 9999 version. I'm just saying that in this state as it is now, it just rancid and not rancid-git. The rancid-git it's fork from rancid. And I'm just saying that https://codeload.github.com/dotwaffle/rancid-git/tar.gz/2.3.8 is wrong url. I know that use master branch is bad solution, so maybe we can download sources from master and put it to some other place.
Comment on attachment 377430 [details] author's answer It looks like text. Why do we need a raster image of it? Also, no, that looks like you're turning a live ebuild into a versioned one.
So to sum it up, the releases at https://github.com/dotwaffle/rancid-git/releases are exactly the same as the releases at ftp://ftp.shrubbery.net/pub/rancid/
(In reply to Jeroen Roovers from comment #5) > So to sum it up, the releases at > https://github.com/dotwaffle/rancid-git/releases > are exactly the same as the releases at > ftp://ftp.shrubbery.net/pub/rancid/ I don't know why those 2 releases contain wrong/unpatched files, have no clue. I just sharing with you information that I got from original author of rancid-git project. That picture, it's screenshot of aswer from original author. Why picture? Because I wanted to highlight the idea :)
