In sci-mathematics/optimal is a bug in ebuild file 
optimal-20040603.ebuild

There is:
- wrong download address
- wrong work path

Old:
SRC_URI="http://www.math.ucf.edu/~reid/Rubik/${MY_P}.tar.gz"
S="${WORKDIR}"

Correct:
SRC_URI="http://www.permutationpuzzles.org/rubik/software/${MY_P}.tar.gz"
S="${WORKDIR}/optimal"

Thanks for reporting. I also fixed the HOMEPAGE which was also wrong.
Could you use github issues in the future https://github.com/cschwan/sage-on-gentoo/issues ?
