since version 0.98.3 clamdscan hang if clamd has stopped/crashed during job. clamdscan then consume all CPU on assigned core, if you have scanned 50 files, load easily raise above 50. solution is to `killall clamdscan`, zombies die and load will drop This behaviour was introduced in 0.98.3, thus its worth to consider revert back to 0.98.1 I have reported bug to Clamav.net, waiting for response. I have manage to crash Clamd via clamdtop with clamd[22517]: segfault at 110 ip 000000484af73aaf sp 000002a0567fbb30 error 4 in clamd[484af60000+28000] 0.98.3 would really need more testing, it seems to be bugged. with 0.98.1 I have not have any crash for months
Ok,its confirmed bug on Clamav.net now and patch is also available https://bugzilla.clamav.net/show_bug.cgi?id=10987
I can'T access the bug on the clamav page, but considering how old this is I assume the bug would've been fixed in recent versions. So closing this as OBSOLETE. should there still be an issue feel free to re-open it.
