Description nobody 2014-05-11 08:55:27 UTC
Having post a bug report i notice that :

Bug 510036 has been added to the database

    Email sent to:
        jer@gentoo.org, cloos@jhcloos.com, alice.ferrazzi@gmail.com, alunduil@alunduil.com, tomwij@gentoo.org, bug-wranglers@gentoo.org
    Excluding:
        devgentoo2@gmail.com, krinn@chez.com, s8365737073k75726578@gmail.com

At first it seems strange (ok it was exclude) to see an email as s8365...
But ok, i could live with that.

But i really really dislike any bug report i made been sent to ANY gmail.com address.

I can enforce my privacy on gmail by not using gmail.com myself. But i disagree to send any email to any gmail.com users because my mails and their contents ARE NOT OWN BY GOOGLE.

So gentoo bugzilla should refuse to sent email to any gmail account for the sane reason gmail account policy doesn't respect user privacy.

Please fix bugzilla to not allow or to offer the option to not allow to sent email to gmail to protect our privacy.
Granting bugzilla right to use my email and its content shouldn't extend that right to google for no reason.
At least it should be wrote clearly that extend exist and is normal usage of gentoo bugzilla, but that would mean i would stop using it (not a big lost i must say, but others users aware of that might be a bigger lost).

I don't get why bugzilla is sending email not from @gentoo.org

Reproducible: Always

Er, people are very much free to pick any email address they like, especially for spam-avoiding purposes, whether you can live with that or not.

That won't happen, sorry.
As per the registration message, our bug tracker is completely open. Anything you wish not to be public, you should not put here.
It is not up to you to dictate what email providers people may or may not use, the recipients may choose the provider that suffices *their* privacy, service, or functionality standards. We will send to anything that has a reliable email intake.

Ceasing the use of Bugzilla is of course your prerogative, but threatening to do so will not change our decision here.
Or, you could create a new account using another email address, with not your real name put to post anonymously, thus protecting your privacy.
