Commit 1.1312 has ChangeLog:

5 07 May 2014; Mike Pagano <mpagano@gentoo.org> -gentoo-sources-3.2.55.ebuild,

13 -gentoo-sources-3.14.0.ebuild, -gentoo-sources-3.14.1.ebuild:
14 Gentoo sources cleanup

... yet I have systems which are using 3.13 features, but for which 3.14 does not work correctly - and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Was removing all trace of 3.13 a typo, or is there some huge vulnerability in this release that I'm not yet aware of and which requires it to be entirely removed?

3.13.x is EOL, consider to downgrade to 3.12.x; I'm not sure about the specific removal and I guess the latest version might be considered for reinstating, there are indeed quite some regressions in 3.14.x from a quick scroll through the LKML.

Stuart,

You are of course free to keep using 3.13.X on your systems. I would not like to encourage its use by our users by keeping it around as it is EOL.

Again, you are free to continuing using it even though it is not in the tree.

If you need to install it on a new server, please refer to: http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/sys-kernel/gentoo-sources/?hideattic=0
