gconf does not install the gconf-sanity-check-2 stuff and that causes gnome-session to failing building with: checking for gconftool-2... /usr/bin/gconftool-2 Using config source xml::/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults for schema installation Using $(sysconfdir)/gconf/schemas/ as install directory for schema files checking for gconf-sanity-check-2... no configure: error: gconf-sanity-check-2 executable not found in your path - should be installed with GConf !!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully. !!! Function src_compile, Line 9, Exitcode 1 !!! Hmmm, well, I emerged gconf again by hand (simply "emerge gconf") and the sanity-check stuff got installed. I then went on to gnome-session and so far so good, so maybe this is fixed already. Sean
Just to add to this: I also encountered this problem. I'm assuming that the gconf-sanity-check-2 portion of the GConf build had an unsatisfied dependancy that silenty caused it not to build the first time around. Just a guess though.
Created attachment 2360 [details] gconf-install-log this is the log from a fresh "emerge gnome". as you can see, "gconf-sanity-check-2" doesn't get installed
Okay, I'm building a fixed version that handles this, big thanks for the build log as it gave the final clue on what it was :) (gtk+ is optional dep)
