I followed the ALSA install guide to get midi working. I emerged timidity and pmidi without problems, and copied the config file to /usr/share/timidity. pmidi -l listed the timidity ports, but I did not get any sound output. This was solved by emerging media-sound/timidity-eawpatches. Then it worked without any additional configuration. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge timidity++ 2. cp /usr/share/timidity/config/timidity.cfg /usr/share/timidity 3. /etc/init.d/timidity start 4a. pmidi -l 5a. pmidi -p65:0 mymidi.mid or 4b. timidity -iA -B2,8 -Os -EFreverb=0 -ig ~/*.mid Actual Results: No sound was produced. Output from timidity in step 4b: "No sound fonts configured on bank 25. This instrument will not be heard" Expected Results: Played the midi file with sound output. Suggestion: add "emerge media-sound/timidity-eawpatches" as a suggestion for users installing timidity, and they will get midi playing. This will install a bunch of soundfonts.
