On some sites, such as http://www.lyx.org, Firefox (I have mozilla-firefox-0.8-r3) displays the website icon (the one that goes in the bookmarks menus and next to the URL in the URL line) garbled. On other sites (http://www.gentoo.org) it does not. The firefox package that comes with Debian (unstable) does not do this. I have also tested this with mozilla-firefox-bin, which also exhibits the same problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge mozilla-firefox 2. firefox 3. browse to http://www.lyx.org Actual Results: favicon is garbled. Expected Results: should have shown the icon correctly (a little bird thingee) For all I know this is some compilation problem with one of my libraries, so here are my USE flags and CFLAGS: CFLAGS="-march=athlon-mp -O3 -pipe -mfpmath=387 -mmmx -msse -m3dnow -momit-leaf- frame-pointer -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-loops -ftracer -ffast-math -fprefetc h-loop-arrays -fexpensive-optimizations -finline-limit=600" USE="3dnow acpi -apm aim alsa apache2 -oss -arts cdr curl directfb dga emacs esd fbcon -gnome gtk2 guile -kde mmx nptl ofx pda qt sse tetex wxwindows X" My system is a dual Athlon MP 1800+, MSI K7D Master motherboard, ATI Radeon 7200 graphics card. I am currently running the xorg-x11 X server, but the same problem occurred when I ran xfree.
mozilla-1.6-r1 doesn't show a favicon for http://www.lyx.org at all.
Other sites: http://nwvault.ign.com/index2.shtml, http://www.savingforcollege.com/ (I *think* this one is messed up...), http://www.bartleby.com/.
None of the sites mentioned show any favicon garbled or otherwise.
Cannot be reproduced anywhere, closing.
