On http://www.trl.ibm.com/projects/security/ssp/ the propolice-patch for gcc 3.4 is now available. So it could be included in the gcc-3.4 ebuilds.

already working on it. i'm in the process of forward porting piessp 8.7.4, but libgcc_s.so fails to compile every time.

ebuild is in CVS, give it some time to reach rsync. :)
