virtual/mailx depends on one of three packages: mail-client/mailx, mail-client/nail, net-mail/mailutils. Only mail-client/mailx and net-mail/mailutils depend on virtual/mta, while mail-client/nail does not depend on it. I'd like to either: 1) make virtual/mailx depend on virtual/mta directly 2) make mail-client/nail depend on virtual/mta Do both these changes may be a good idea too. Reproducible: Always
I would conjecture that a hard dependency is not justified because these clients can also read mail on other systems. Assigning anyways.
Agreed. AFAICS no need for an MTA to read mail.
Why in this case mailx and mailutils depend on virtual/mta? Is there any need for these packages to depend on virtual/mta?
