When generating a key pair an email address like "peter.westwood@ftwr.co.uk" is not valid. However one like a.b@c.com is accepted looks like the function won't accept more than one dot after the @ sign. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enter email address with more than one dot after @ 2. Click Generate Key pair 3. Actual Results: Msgbox appears telling me email address not valie Expected Results: Should have accepted email address Portage 2.0.50-r6 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.6.3) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.3 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) processor Gentoo Base System version 1.4.10 distcc 2.13 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-tbird -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf /xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-tbird -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox strict userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow acpi apache2 apm arts avi berkdb cdr crypt curl doc encode ethereal fbcon foomaticdb gdbm gif gpm imap imlib jpeg libg++ libwww mad maildir mikmod motif mpeg msn mysql ncurses nls offensive oggvorbis oss pam pdflib perl png pytho n quicktime readline samba sasl sdl slang snmp spell ssl svga tcpd tetex truetype vhosts x86 xml2 xmms xv zlib" I have submitted a bug to the GPG plugin bugzilla here: http://www.braverock.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=184 After spending some time grepping around I can't see a simple patch to the code to make it work!
Reassed to eradicator@gentoo.org based on metadata.xml info for squirrelmail
I can look into this in about 2 weeks... youu might get a quicker response from the plugin developers themselves... sorry =(
Ok Jeremy, I will try to look into ore myself if i get some time this weekend. Hopefully a response will come from the developers first ;-).
were you ever able to get a fix from this upstream?
Hi Jeremy, No fix yet from upstream. Ugly work around was provided though. I have been using the plugin with a commandline generated key quite sucessfully though. The Workaround: This is an issue with the javascript checking on the email address. It's known about, but hasn't been fixed yet. I'll update this bug when it is. For the moment, an ugly fix wouldl be to disable javascript when you need to generate a key. Cheers, -Aaron van Meerten GPG Plugin Developer
Peter, pleasse reopen the bug when upstream has a fix, thanks.
Reopening as now is allegdly fixed by upstream: http://www.braverock.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=184
Definitely not fixed... There's another bug open on this. http://www.braverock.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=243 Marking upstream again.
