I am trying to troubleshoot an issues with KDE desktop effects, which became unusable after the last major KDE upgrade (I'm using the x86 stable version). Since I also upgraded the kernel and the NVIDIA drivers at the same time the specific package which triggered this is difficult to tell. Anyway, this is the current version installed of each: kde-base/kwin-4.11.5 sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.12.13 x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-331.49-r3 At startup, the desktop effects kick in. Almost immediately, any window that is not currently in focus blurs, and even the window in focus blurs in any area that is not being repainted. This happens regardless of the fact that the "blur" effect is on or off in the configuration, and is toggled by disabling the effects altogether (e.g. by alt-shift-f12). If reactivated, the behavior reappears.
