Well, this is my first bug post, but here goes.
Anyway, this happens out of the blue, but usually when im not present. Im on a 56k connection that uses pppd of course, and sometimes when i get disconnect i get "pppd died unexpectantly" and i cant connect to the internet again.

kernel is 2.6.5-gentoo-r1 but this has also happened with one of the 2.6.3 kernels

Please check if this happens with the latest development-sources and if it does, report in on http://bugme.osdl.org/. This is probably a bug in the kernel that needs to be taken care of by the people who maintain net/core code.
