Description urcindalo 2014-03-27 09:51:13 UTC
I really don't know if this issue is really a bug in Thunderbird or something else. The thing is I use the ThunderBrowse plugin with the stable version of Thunderbird in the tree. With the few latest stable TB versions (I think since the upgrade from 17.x to 24.x) I can see that, after every TB update, everything works as expected. However, if you close TB and reopen it, the bottom bar in it does not display neither the plugin options nor the regular TB information.

To recover them you have to go to the Thunderbrowse plugin preferences and change something, whatever. Even if the changes are reverted back before exiting, so that globally nothing has changed, everything works as expected again once you quit/reopen Thunderbird the first time. But, the next time you reopen TB after closing it normally, without changing something in the plugin preferences in advance, the bottom bar keeps showing no info nor options.

Any ideas? It seems some file is not updated/saved/touched, or whatever, if TB is closed normally, and only a change in the plugin preferences triggers the required action. After googling around I've found nothing regarding this issue.

Thanks in advance.

I suggest you talk to the plug-in developer. According to [1] and the URL you posted the last update was to improve TB 16 support, and that's from 2012.

There's a workaround. You have to do *everytime* as the TB's ebuild post-installation warning says before launching it:
===
 * If you experience problems with plugins please issue the
 * following command : rm ${HOME}/.thunderbird/*/extensions.sqlite ,
 * then restart thunderbird
===

I will contact the thunderbrowse developer, too, in the meantime.
