When booting from the LiveCD 2004.1 my NIC does not get detected. It's a Realtek 8029. So I first tried a modprobe ne2k-pci and got unresolved symbols. Maybe because modprobe tries to load the module in the 2.6.4 subdirectory, but uname -a tells me that kernel 2.4.25 is loaded, so I tried a modprobe with the full path to the 2.4.25..../ne2k-pci.o and still got the same error mesage. Following an advice from IRC I tried an insmod -f with the same module but stil got those unresolved symbols. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Boot 2.load the module 3.fails Actual Results: nothing, just still no NIC in 'ifconfig -a' Expected Results: get my NIC running (it works well in every other os/distro i tried so far)
If you use the 'smp'-kernel at boot time, loading works.
This has been fixed in the newest version of catalyst. Thank you for the bug report.
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux". I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers, this is the only reasonable way to do this.
