Hello,

When trying to use PC/SC tools, with the daemon pcscd running, no device are detected. When looking in debug mode, there is those messages:

* 00000029 hotplug_libudev.c:96:HPReadBundleValues() Cannot open PC/SC drivers directory: /usr/lib64/readers/usb
* 00000005 hotplug_libudev.c:97:HPReadBundleValues() Disabling USB support for pcscd.
* 00000004 hotplug_libudev.c:667:HPRegisterForHotplugEvents() No bundle files in pcsc drivers directory: /usr/lib64/readers/usb
* 00000004 hotplug_libudev.c:668:HPRegisterForHotplugEvents() Disabling USB support for pcscd

Here more informations about my configuration:

[I] sys-apps/pcsc-lite
     Installed versions: 1.8.8-r1(udev -libusb -selinux)

[I] sys-apps/pcsc-tools
     Installed versions: (~)1.4.22(gtk -network-cron)

[I] sys-fs/eudev
     Installed versions: 1.3(gudev hwdb introspection kmod modutils openrc -doc -keymap -rule-generator -selinux -static-libs -test ABI_MIPS="-n32 -n64 -o32" ABI_X86="64 -32 -x32")

[I] sys-kernel/hardened-sources
     Installed versions: (~)3.12.8-r1(3.12.8-r1)^bs(deblob -build -symlink)

* sys-kernel/linux-firmware
     No installed version.

I think it's not a problem with my device, because it works on another system (Debian 7), and in dmesg, we can see it when I plug it:

[ XXX0.081485] usb 3-2: new high-speed USB device number 7 using xhci_hcd
[ XXX0.153672] usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=0bda, idProduct=0169

[ XXX1.167082] sd 14:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg4 type 0
[ XXX1.169585] sd 14:0:0:0: [sde] Attached SCSI removable disk

Note: as you can see with “usb 3-2: new high-speed USB device number 7 using xhci_hcd” in first line, I pluged it on a USB3 port, but same behavior on USB2 port, with “usb 2-1.6: new high-speed USB device number 11 using ehci-pci” message.

I may add as attachment my linux config file, because I searched something about PC/SC device in kernel, but I found nothing.

Thanks for support.

Best regards,

Hello again,

So, I tried to change some tweaks in my configuration, I emerged linux-firmware to give it a shot (because I have other problems with other devices too), but it didn't work neither.

I searched in kernel configuration, nothing relevant found, but maybe because I have unblobed my kernel; I will try with those blobs, stay tunned.

It will be great if someone could help me about this. :-)

Best regards,

And what do you have at /usr/lib64/readers/usb ?

Have you merged ccid?

I had no directories named /usr/lib64/readers, and therefore nor subdirectories.

> Have you merged ccid?

No, I didn't, but now I did, it finally works! Great job!

So, I figure now there should be a required dependency to app-crypt/ccid in the ebuilds.

Thanks a lot.

because this is not a bug in any of the packages.

But, what about the ebuilds? I tought bugs.gentoo.org is the place to report when there is an unmet dependency.

there is no dependency.
if you do not install the correct driver, reader will not work.
ccid is one driver, there are others.

Ok, I didn't know, my bad.

Thanks for support.
