PLEASE PLEASE READ MY PREVIOUS BUG REPORT 45336!!!!!!!!!!! This is the same Bug as reported in 45336. The bug persists in LiveCD 2004.1!! During the boot-up of the 2004.1 LiveCD for the x86 platform, the Gentoo 2004.1 LiveCD crashes with a kernal panic message when trying to detect and load the needed PCMCIA messages. The pcmcia card and socket is NEVER recognised. As mentioned, there are TWO bugs!!! 1. There is a problem with the script! Please look at SystemRescueCD (which is based in gentoo LiveCD). The SystemRescueCD does a great job in detecting and loading the right PCMCIA modules. 2. The yenta_socket and 8139too modules are NOT included on the 2004.1 LiveCD. (The ds.0 module is already included) This is the SECOND time I have asked that these modules be included. If the modules are included, at least one could easily manually load the needed PCMCIA modules! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot with dopcmcia option 2. See the kernel panic message when the LIVECD tries to detect and load the needed PCMCIA modules. 3. the 2004.1 LiveCD crashes after displaying the kernel panic message! Actual Results: The 2004.1 LiveCD crashes with a long kernel panic message!! Expected Results: PCMCIA modules should be loaded automatically including yenta_socket, 8139too and ds modules. Here is the solution. 1. Fix the script. You may want to consider using the script that SystemRescueCD uses. It works great! 2. Include the yenta_socket and 8139too modules on the next 2004.1 LiveCD. (The ds.0 module is already included)
How about 2004.2 or 2004.3? I bet this is fixed. If not, please REOPEN.
