Description Mr. Borje Holmberg 2004-05-08 10:43:44 UTC
When I try to edit Preferences in either Epiphany 1.2.5 or 1.2.3, it crashes with the following msg:
The Application "epiphany-bin" has quit unexpectedly.

You can inform the developers of what happened to help them fix it. Or you can restart the application right now.

If i start Epiphany from consol, I get:

(epiphany-bin:14844): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to parse accelerator 'gtk-open' for action 'OpenImage'

LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /opt/RealPlayer8/rpnp.so [/opt/RealPlayer8/rpnp.so: undefined symbol: __pure_virtual]

Reproducible: Always

I think I figured out what was the problem.

Did the following:

i) rm .gconf* and rm .gnome2/session. Ran startx - no problems editing preferences in Epiphany

ii) changed Desktop Preferences:Font from sans to verdana - Epiphany would crash

iii) changed back Desktop Preferences:Font:Application Font from Verdana to Sans. Epiphany wouldn't crash on entering Preferences.

Comment 3 Mr. Borje Holmberg 2004-05-10 07:28:38 UTC
Hi Fozer,

What do you mean by emerge info?

If you mean /etc/make.conf, here it is?

# These settings were set by the catalyst build script that automatically built
this stage
CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
USE="acpi cjk dvb dvd faad fam flac freetype gstreamer imagemagick jack \
     java jikes moznocompose moznoirc moznomail offensive rplay sdk speex \
     sse tiff unicode xchattext xvid -apm -arts -kde -qt"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86"

regards,

borje

no, what he meant was , the output of running "emerge info"

And, without that info or a working backtrace, I am afraid there is very little we can do. especially if you cannot reproduce it anymore.
