Emerging libsecret with FEATURES=test fails in test-collection. From build.log, the relevant part seems to be: /collection/delete-async: ** Message: Remote error from secret service: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) ** (test-collection:24741): WARNING **: couldn't set SecretCollection Label: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) FAIL GTester: last random seed: R02Sad55fd23da8ec245a1b2783256711344 This doesn't seem to be related with bug #486410. Looks like test suite has some problems, I have for now opened: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=726286 I have also commented there that tests are sometimes exiting without error code even failing
How is the situation with 0.18.* ? I see it was stabilized and I didn't have issues with testsuite myself.
(In reply to Gilles Dartiguelongue from comment #7) > How is the situation with 0.18.* ? I see it was stabilized and I didn't have > issues with testsuite myself. Unfortunately, this won't be the first time that a package is marked stable whereas miserably failing to pass tests. In fact, I'm wondering if people do really enable tests when they declare a package stable. I don't know what Gentoo policy is on this, but IMHO, disabling tests from keywording is OK, but enabling them for stabilization should be mandatory, unless explicitely disabled for known reasons or declared broken by upstream. Back to the subject. The situation is even worse with 0.18.* than 0.16.*: on 197 tests now, only 46 are passing successfully, 144 are failing and 7 are reporting errors. Causes range from the timeout error originally reported in this BR to assertion error in g-io-error-quark. Please find the corresponding test-suite.log in attachment. Émeric

FTR, I, just like any Gentoo dev is supposed to do, run unittests of all packages I bump, try to fix or workaround those broken and disable them in the case I have no other solution with upstream reports, etc. I do believe that other Gnome team members do the same but we do not have access to all architectures in existence so we rely on other devs to do this part. > Back to the subject. Looks like the most common problem in this log is that dbus does not respond. Is it installed ? Do you have DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS set in the environment while building ?

Sorry, I missed this one :-( So yes, =sys-apps/dbus-1.8.16 is installed and started: emeric@longspeak ~ $ systemctl status -l dbus ● dbus.service - D-Bus System Message Bus Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/dbus.service; static; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (running) since mar. 2015-12-22 16:14:31 CET; 1h 35min ago Docs: man:dbus-daemon(1) Main PID: 1463 (dbus-daemon) CGroup: /system.slice/dbus.service └─1463 /usr/bin/dbus-daemon --system --address=systemd: --nofork --nopidfile --systemd-activation And DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS is set while building, e.g.: emeric@longspeak ~ $ env | grep DBUS DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=unix:abstract=/tmp/dbus-NrNw5ifAhJ,guid=fccead977acb4c4bfb7f52c65679788b
Could you try unsetting it prior to running the build ? If your tree has been updated in the last 20 days, it should have a gnome2.eclass that unsets it while building though so it should not be necessary.

Don't know what has changed recently, but =app-crypt/libsecret-0.18.3 is now emerging successfully with tests enabled, without requiring any tweak/quirk :-) Émeric
