Hello, When trying to emerge =mate-base/mate-1.7.0::mate-overlay, there is an unmet dependency required by '=mate-base/mate-applets-1.7.90::mate-overlay[gtk3]': gnome-extra/gucharmap:3 But, when I look at it with the eix tool: % eix -e gucharmap * gnome-extra/gucharmap Available versions: (0) 3.0.1-r200 (2.90) 3.6.1 3.8.2 3.10.1 {cjk debug doc +introspection test vala} Homepage: http://live.gnome.org/Gucharmap Description: Unicode character map viewer and library And effectively, there is no slot number 3, but slot 0 and 2.90; but why does this 2.90 slot has packages with >= 3.0 versions? I assumed there is a bug when editing the ebuilds related to this package. Currently, it is blocking the installation of mate-applets-1.7.90. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Asking for emerging a package with a gucharmap:3 dependency. 2. looking at the bug ;-) Actual Results: Portage stop trying to solve other dependencies. Expected Results: gucharmap's slot 2.90 should be renamed 3 (I think). Thanks for support, Best regards.

Is this still present in that overlay? Can you file this at their GitHub? Didn't come across this when importing...
Hello, (In reply to Tom Wijsman (TomWij) from comment #2) > Is this still present in that overlay? Can you file this at their GitHub? > > Didn't come across this when importing... Since this ebuild does not exist anymore (in gentoo's tree or mate's overlay), we can't figure it out now. But about the new ebuild, mate-applets/mate-applets-1.8.0::mate-overlay, we can see: !gtk3? ( ... gnome-extra/gucharmap:0 ) gtk3? ( ... gnome-extra/gucharmap:2.90 ) So, with those new informations, I consider this bug got resolved. I already wrote an email to the person in charge, it looks like my report helped. Thanks for support.
mate-base/mate-applets-1.7.90 is not part of the overlay any more. Further (as we don't have any access on the overlay maintained by sabayon), you can also submit bug reports for the overlay to [1] directly. [1] https://github.com/Sabayon/mate-overlay/issues
