Description Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-03-06 20:08:33 UTC
I have an intel-hda based integrated card (ALC 888 or something like that) and when upgrading from 4.0 to 5.0 prereleases and even 5.0 release, it fails to detect all the outputs and just shows me "Digital Output (S/PDIF) - Internal audio" with IEC958 blabla output.

Downgrading get me my sound back.

Alsa still sees the card obviously and changing with 3.10.10 or 3.13.5 kernel does not change anything.

I think I'm going for a bissect now...

erf, meant to assign this to the team directly.
Comment 2 Rafał Mużyło 2014-03-06 21:51:10 UTC
Any chance it's just the order of the cards changed ?

That is, is your card still listed by 'pactl list cards' ?
Comment 3 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2014-03-06 22:24:02 UTC
Umm, I would also try to report to upstream as we are not applying anything strange downstream :/
Comment 4 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2014-03-07 21:15:07 UTC
I am not sure if this should block gnome-3.10 stabilization. I can't reproduce... but it looks an important issue, the problem is that I don't know where to start to investigate :S

pa5-list-cards.txt

Here is the list of cards as reported by 'pactl list cards'
It seems the card is properly listed with all profiles and HDMI as well but it is not listed in gnome-control-center sound panel. Maybe the bug is not in PA after all ?

Here is the daemon log.

5.0-r2 includes an upstream patch to fix modules switching that maybe could help here

Please retry, if still valid would be nice to open a bug to upstream to hopefully help us to debug the issue :/ (would it be even nicer if upstream would make releases more often including fixes... but :S)
Comment 9 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-11-03 23:53:55 UTC
Reported upstream as even master fails.
Comment 10 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2015-07-08 15:53:31 UTC
Will try to follow in upstream side... also, maybe it was solved in pulseaudio 6 :/
Comment 11 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-07-10 21:04:48 UTC
It is not solved in PA-6. I need to take some time again to add requested information in upstream ticket.
