dev-python/configparser-3.2.0.3 was built with the following:
USE="" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7"

eroen@falcon ~ $ emerge -pqv '=dev-python/configparser-3.2.0.3::gentoo'

Comment 2 eroen 2014-03-06 14:16:05 UTC
dev-python/configparser-3.3.0.2 does not install a requires.txt and is not affected by this. Unfortunately, www-apps/nikola-6.3.0 rdepends on =dev-python/configparser-3.2.0*.
Comment 3 Ian Delaney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-03-19 11:27:37 UTC
from the new ordereddict-1.1.ebuild

PYTHON_COMPAT=( python2_6 )

and Description;

"A drop-in substitute for Py2.7's new collections.OrderedDict"
or
OrderedDict that works in Python 2.4-2.6.

dev-python/ordereddict is apt only for py2.6, any < 2.6 are no longer supported in portage.

configparser-3.2.0r3/configparser.egg-info/requires.txt simply lists ordereddict which is a module under collections in py2.7.

$ python2.7 -c "from collections import OrderedDict"
yields success. Does this all stem from the failing of entering a python shell @

eroen@falcon ~ $ python2
?

I believe the revised bug description is less apropriate than my original description.

Evidently, pkg_resources is nontheless unable to find ordereddict. If the ordereddict module in python-2.7 does not support pkg_resources, it could explain why the newer version of configparser does not attempt to find ordereddict through pkg_resources.

My python2 is Python 2.7.6. configparser is already part of python3+.
Comment 5 Michał Górny archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2018-04-24 15:46:21 UTC
3.3.0.2 already makes the dep conditional to py<2.7, and there's no older version around.
