configure: error: Systemd support was requested but systemd was not found


Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:  
checking for getopt_long... yes
checking for SYSTEMD... no
configure: error: Systemd support was requested but systemd was not found

The error is:
Package libsystemd was not found in the pkg-config search path.

So, what pkgconfig files did systemd install ?

This should be fixed.
Try syncing your portage tree and rebuilding.
