Description Sergey S. Starikoff 2014-02-28 16:01:37 UTC
Today, after successful update world on cleaning dependencies I've got the following error message:

# emerge --depclean

 * Always study the list of packages to be cleaned for any obvious
 * mistakes. Packages that are part of the world set will always
 * be kept. They can be manually added to this set with
 * `emerge --noreplace <atom>`. Packages that are listed in
 * package.provided (see portage(5)) will be removed by
 * depclean, even if they are part of the world set.
 *
 * As a safety measure, depclean will not remove any packages
 * unless *all* required dependencies have been resolved. As a
 * consequence, it is often necessary to run `emerge --update
 * --newuse --deep @world` prior to depclean.

Calculating dependencies... done!
 * Dependencies could not be completely resolved due to
 * the following required packages not being installed:
 *
 *   >=dev-libs/elfutils-0.100[static-libs(+)] pulled in by:
 *     sys-devel/prelink-20110511
 *
 * Have you forgotten to do a complete update prior to depclean? The
 * most comprehensive command for this purpose is as follows:
 *
 *   emerge --update --newuse --deep --with-bdeps=y @world
 *
 * Note that the --with-bdeps=y option is not required in many
 * situations. Refer to the emerge manual page (run `man emerge`)
 * for more information about --with-bdeps.
 *
 * Also, note that it may be necessary to manually uninstall
 * packages that no longer exist in the portage tree, since it may
 * not be possible to satisfy their dependencies.

Rebuild dev-libs/elfutils with static-libs USE enabled made this issue go away.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Probably, issue should be reproduced by:
1. Add rion overlay.
2. Add keyword '**' for app-text/myrulib
3. Install app-text/myrulib (dew to dependency check portage should install 0.29.14).
4. Sync portage tree and try to update world.
Actual Results:
For my case just now:

# emerge -uDN world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

Total: 0 packages, Size of downloads: 0 kB

!!! The following update has been skipped due to unsatisfied dependencies:

app-text/myrulib:0

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "dev-db/wxsqlite3:2.8" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-db/wxsqlite3-3.0.5::rion (masked by: ~amd64 keyword)

(dependency required by "app-text/myrulib-9999::rion" [ebuild])
For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge
man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

Nothing to merge; quitting.

On pervious iteration portage asked for prompt to update world.
Following dependencies clean fails with first quoted error message.

Expected Results:
Portage should quiet with error message about unsatisfied dependencies:
 *   >=dev-libs/elfutils-0.100[static-libs(+)] pulled in by:
 *     sys-devel/prelink-20110511

World should be updated just after satisfiction of this dependency, without error message on --depclean.

Please attach the debug.log created by:
"emerge --pretend --depclean --debug &> debug.log"
for the case where it shows the unsatisfied dependency for prelink.

debug.log

emerge --pretend --depclean --debug 2>&1 | tee /tmp/debug.log
Portage's output is ended with quoted error message.
debug.log is bzip2 compressed because result file doesn't fit Bugzilla's limit.

Rolling system back to the issued state (i.e. comment line in /etc/portage/package.use and emerge --oneshot dev-libs/elfutils) also don't find any error.
