In combination with Gnome 3.8 and abi_x86_32 pulseaudio-4.99.4-r1 is not usable, as it needs bluez-5 which does not work on Gnome 3.8. Is there any ability to restore the 4.0-r1? Reproducible: Always
*pulseaudio-4.99.4-r1 (21 Feb 2014) 21 Feb 2014; Pacho Ramos <pacho@gentoo.org> +pulseaudio-4.99.4-r1.ebuild, -pulseaudio-4.0-r1.ebuild, -pulseaudio-4.99.4.ebuild: tmpfiles conf file is only needed with system-wide for openRC init.d script (#501870 by Pavel Volkov), only skip a test that fails due sandbox (#501846 by Emeric Maschino). Drop old.
I saw you dropped the old pulseaudio-4.0-r1 but Gnome 3.8 Users with ABI_X86="32 64" really need this version.
If you aren't using bluetooth headphones, as a workaround you can emerge 4.99.4-r1 with USE=-bluetooth.
That's the problem, I'm using a Sennheiser bluetooth headset only. I already remove bluetooth USE normally but I need this. If it's not possible to get back the pulseaudio-4.0 with ABI_x86 there should at least be a blocker on Gnome-3.8 meta package for ABI_x86.
5.0-r2 is compatible with both bluez versions, also gnome 3.8 was removed some time ago
