Portage has version 1.8.1, which is 3 years old.  The latest version 2.0 fixes a bug that locks up emacs, which is very annoying.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge markdown-mode

Actual Results:  
You get version 1.8.1

Expected Results:  
You get version 2.0
