Basically, everything (hotplug, 2.6 kernel, drivers, etc) worked perfect syncing my old Handspring Visor. However, when I try to sync my new Treo, while the sync succeeds, processes crash and sometimes lead to a hard lock. I listed the dmesg output from the crashed processes in the Forums thread. I think I've tracked it down to hotplug and usb.agent. This seems to be a bit over my head, so I've just been trying as many variables as possible to track down the issue. If someone needs more information or another variable tested, please let me know and I'll be glad to give it a shot and post the results. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Attempt to sync Treo 90 via pilot-link or JPilot 2. Wait a minute or two after the sync completes 3. Actual Results: Usually, gkrellm locks first, then the mouse or keyboard, then the system seems to hard freeze. I don't have an extra system to attempt to SSH in. Expected Results: Complete the sync without bring the entire system to a halt. Sorry. I thought the link would be included in the body of the message. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=168384&highlight=
Can you give it a go in a vanilla (unpatched kernel) preferabley the latest around (sys-kernel/development-sources-2.6.6_rc3).
Sorry about that. I put information regarding that in the Forums, but forgot to mention it here. I tried the vanilla development sources (I think it was 2.6.5), and had the same problem. Do you think I should try 2.6.6-rc3?
This is a known bug in upstream See http://bugme.osdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2289 for more information. It is not a gentoo specific bug at all, so I'm closing this.
