Description Frank Krömmelbein 2014-02-18 01:15:12 UTC
Monday morning i did an update to nvidia-drivers-334.16-r5, after an reboot X server starts up normaly.
A few minutes ago i did update to -r6, after an reboot X server fails to start.

In the log i found:
Feb 18 01:41:37 newgen kdm[2960]: X server died during startup
Feb 18 01:41:37 newgen kdm[2960]: X server for display :0 cannot be started, session disabled

I did not find any other usefull information in the log, i just migrated on the weekend to systemd...

After i restored and emerged the old -r5 Ebuild from my backup, X server starts up again.

See attached log file.

I can not fully understand the Invalid reason, Ok Kernel 3.13 is not official supported.
But the old -r5 works fine here with the same kernel and -r6 not?

Right.

Who knows. Whatever patch you used to get it running with 3.13 is bound to be faulty.
