Like 'emerge -pv --nodeps media-video/ffmpeg media-video/libav' output. And I see no proof the patch doesn't work. You should upgrade your Portage tree (sync) and get a new build.log that shows the patch being applied. So we can see the patch is actually being applied, and then information what FFmpeg implementation / version is being used.

Now i am trying to remove libav and reinstall media-video/ffmpeg
no changes
I still haven't seen a build.log where alsa-plugins-1.0.27-ffmpeg.patch is being applied and the alsa-plugins-1.0.27-r1 build failing.

Please open a new bug report for the undefined references, so we can leave this one FIXED for the CODEC_ID_AC3 undeclared bug. As in, you can't just open a old bug report everytime you hit a different bug in the same package. I understand you did it accidentally, so it's okay, but please file a new bug: - Attach the build.log there - Attach emerge --info there - Make the summary say: media-plugins/alsa-plugins: undefined reference to `av_resample*' - Include information what version of media-video/ffmpeg OR media-video/libav is installed you are seeing the undefined references to av_resample* So, reclosing the CODEC_ID_AC3 bug as FIXED ->
