Created attachment 369428 [details] xbmc.service XBMC upstream does not ship with init script to start XBMC directly in systemd yet some distros such as Arch add it for faster startup of machines where XBMC starts as an dedicated application https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/i686/xbmc/ Such a file could be placed in the Portage as well. I attach their file which does work for me, but might need alteration if lets say user builds XBMC without lirc
Looks like we neither provide an init.d openRC script to allow this way to start xbmc (that would add a dependency on xinit), would prefer to know if our package maintainers agree with this way to start it
not at this time. that unit utilizes users/groups that the ebuild doesn't create and otherwise don't make sense. at this time, you can accomplish largely the same thing with any login manager and configuring it to autologin for any user you want, and having that user launch xbmc as their session.
