This package has been renamed upstream, and a new release was made. The old one (at least the naming scheme) has been discontinued.

I have also contacted the author (both via mail and a bug report) to ask for
a proper build script.

If you have the time, please attach a suitable ebuild for
ecletex (etex' new name). Otherwise, I'll get to it as we've managed to
craft a build.xml file for it.

Fixed. Available for testing on x86 as dev-util/ecletex-0.0.2
