Description Phil Stracchino (Unix Ronin) 2014-02-01 21:00:38 UTC
Pidgin 2.10.8/2.10.8-r1 seems unable to connect properly to a legacy jabberd that requires old-style SSL on port 5223. It successfully retrieves and authenticates the SSL certificate, but then simply spins forever failing to actually open the connection. It connects without problems to a jabberd using the usual SSL on port 5222, and 2.10.7-r5 and earlier using the exact same account information connect successfully to a server with old-style SSL on 5223.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Reproducing the problem requires access to a jabber server running old-style SSL on 5223. Assuming one is available, all you should need to do is set up an account with those parameters and try to connect to it first with 2.10.7-r5 to verify it works and establish the test account, then with 2.10.8 or 2.10.8-r1 to verify the bug. I am unfortunately not able to offer access to the server in question for testing.

Does an update to pidgin-2.10.9{,-r1} fix the issue?

I haven't seen 2.10.9 yet. But I'm doing an eix-sync right this minute and will retry if it's there.

Lars,
I confirm this problem fixed in 2.10.9-r1. I did not back-test to 2.10.9.

Thanks for testing.
