This bug is equivalent to a bug reported in Arch Linux (https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/33948). They also have a patch available (https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/fix-noisy-sound-output.patch?h=packages/performous).

If you put this patch into the files directory of the package and append the filename to the list of patches in the ebuild for performous-0.7.0-r1 it will work without problems.

I do not know under which license this patch is available, so I will not add it as an attachment or provide an updated ebuild.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start performous
Actual Results:  
The sound in the menu and the actual game is noisy and the pitch is too high.

reopen if this is still an issue with performous-1.0
