I'm going to attach a script + an alias file that will enable the isapnp hotplug (or better coldplug) support for isapnp devices. These script were initially made by me and then heavy modified from Marco d'Itri, a Debian developer, that it's going to add them to the next release of Debian's hotplug package. I was hoping that this can be added to the gentoo's ebuild too. The script isapnp.rc can be copied in /etc/hotplug , but isapnp.alias must be put in /etc/modprode.d, the problem is that Gentoo doesn't support this anymore. See bug http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48736 Like I've said I'll be _very_ Happy to add this to the gentoo rc scripts and make a patch. I only need something like "Yes Do IT", Let Me Know. Bye! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Created attachment 30675 [details] isapnp.rc script This is the isapnp.rc script. Put it in /etc/hotplug/ and make it executable.
Created attachment 30676 [details] isapnp.aliases This is isapnp.aliases, this file must be put in /etc/modprobe.d, then a script can create modprobe.conf with the files in modprobe.d. See what I've said before.
Yeah, This is what a was searching for, Now I can load all my isapnp modules like the other pci and usb devices! Please Add it!
Let me add it to the upstream hotplug package first. Care to send me these patches on the mailing list?
Thanks for your response. I had already sent the first initial scripts some time ago on the hotplug mailinglist. These latest scripts were sent by Marco d'Itri 3 days ago, you can find them here: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-hotplug-devel&m=108361765204731&q=raw I know that it's probably not related to your (very big) work, but I think that someone has to update the rc script for managing the /etc/modprobe.d/ directory for generating the /etc/modprobe.conf file. I've also heard that Rusty Russel is going to add this automatically in the new version of the module-init-tools, so probably (if they will exits in few time) it's better to wait? Bye!
Thanks, I've applied this to the upstream tree and it will show up in the next release (today or tommorrow.)
