The plugin compiles fine, but automatically exists after trying to add it to the xfce panel. I tried some debugging and got this message: xfce4-panel(xfce4-playercontrol-plugin): calling plugin construct function xfce4-panel(external): xfce4-playercontrol-plugin-2: child exited with status 4 xfce4-playercontrol-plugin is compiled with USE="mpd -audacious". i'm not suprised. playercontrol plug-in is the continuation of the now dead xmms plug-in, but since playercontrol was released it has also been abandoned use xfce-extra/xfce4-mpc-plugin for mpd instead
