Doing emerge @preserved-rebuild or emerge --depclean always yields the following:

This page suggests filing a bug with the maintainer but I see no way to assign a bug to a specific package? (http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Preserve-libs)

The workaround suggested by the wiki works.

objdump -p /usr/bin/dillo |grep NEEDED
objdump -p /usr/bin/gs |grep NEEDED

...lists libpng15 or libpng16?

both gs and dillo list libpng16

Please file separate bug reports for separate issues. The audacious-plugins issue is being fixed as per bug #490463.
