Attempting to install 2004.0 and 2004.1 on a new cheapy motherboard utilizing the VIA CPU, and I get an "Illegal instruction" error message when I get to the spot I'm supposed to chroot to /mnt/gentoo. Here's the info from DMESG abou the CPU: Initializing CPU#0 CPU: L1 I Cache: 64K (32 bytes/line), D cache 64K (32 bytes/line) CPU: L2 Cache: 64K (32 bytes/line) CPU: After generic, caps: 00803135 80803035 00000000 00000000 CPU: Common caps: 00803135 80803035 00000000 00000000 CPU: Centaur VIA Samuel 2 stepping 03 Here's the command and result: livecd root # chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash Illegal instruction I've done this several times now on AMD and P4 systems, so I "sorta" know what I'm doing, so I'm making a bit of an assumption this is a problem with the CPU. Should work though, shouldn't it?
