Description Juergen Rose 2014-01-17 07:06:52 UTC
At the first try evince does not start. The second try one second later works:

rose@lynx:/home/rose/Txt/projects/ClosePackingOfSpheres/Report(9)$ evince  close_packing_of_spheres_article.pdf

** (evince:15515): WARNING **: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-tOTuw7bBQi: Verbindungsaufbau abgelehnt

(evince:15515): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'evince' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)'.
  (Details: serial 187 error_code 10 request_code 130 minor_code 1)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
   variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

'evince' was started at a remote system via ssh. At the remote system there was only a root login at the console. At the local system gnome-desktop-3.8.4 is running.

1) Please post your `emerge --info' output in a comment.
2) Perhaps you should run evince as is explained and get a backtrace.
