Tried both 12.11 and 13.11. Machine appears to search for and load all of the activities, and then displays the message: "Couldn't find or load the file computer.svg. This activity is incomplete. Exit it and report the problem to the authors." $ locate computer.svg /usr/share/games/gcompris/boards/chess_computer.svg /usr/share/games/gcompris/boards/computer.svg Displays no activities, and the only possible action is to exit the program.
reopen with the output from emerge --info and the complete output displayed when running gcompris from the command-line.

I wonder if your config has gotten messed up. Try temporarily moving aside the directories that it's using: Config dir '/home/user/.config/gcompris' Users dir '/home/user/My GCompris'

time for an strace then. strace -o out gcompris and attach the out file
Created attachment 367930 [details] gcompris strace output As requested. I don't know much about interpreting this output, but it looks (from the strace) that the program had no problem locating and opening the indicated file (even thought the message as before appeared on the screen).
Doesn't look like gtk-pixbuf is trying to load the svg file. Can I see what "emerge -evp gcompris" looks like on your system?
On a whim (or guess, or just that I couldn't imagine any other source of the problem), I reinstalled librsvg, and everything works now. Thanks.
