Description Maciej Piechotka 2014-01-07 14:49:35 UTC
x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev does not rebuild against correct ABI with FEATURES="distcc distcc-pump" so after each update of X the automatic of manual rebuild does not work (ABI mismatch). Commenting out distcc and rebuilding works.

Are you saying that it is building against the wrong x11-base/xorg-server, namely the one on the remote distccd host? The build log does not show any errors, so do you see the issue only at run time?

Yes - sorry I wasn't clear. There is runtime ABI mismatch error. It's possible that this is the one on server (I'll check it next week).
Comment 5 James 2017-01-26 17:37:16 UTC
Just ran into the same problem today.

I have my desktop running unstable Gentoo and my wife's computer running stable. Her computer is running:
x11-base/xorg-server-1.18.4
x11-base/xorg-drivers-1.18-r1
x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev-2.10.3
My desktop is running:
x11-base/xorg-server-1.19.1
x11-base/xorg-drivers-1.19
x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev-2.10.5

I couldn't use my keyboard or mouse in X, and I received the following error:
[ 909.888] (**) Power Button: Applying InputClass "evdev keyboard catchall"
[ 909.888] (II) LoadModule: "evdev"
[ 909.889] (II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/evdev_drv.so
[ 909.889] (II) Module evdev: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
[ 909.889] (EE) evdev: module ABI major version (22) doesn't match the server's version (24)
[ 909.889] (II) UnloadModule: "evdev"
[ 909.889] (II) Unloading evdev
[ 909.889] (EE) Failed to load module "evdev" (module requirement mismatch, 0)
[ 909.889] (EE) No input driver matching `evdev'

I rebuilt xf86-input-evdev on my desktop using distcc and it failed again with the same error.

I then rebuilt using:
FEATURES="-distcc -distcc-pump ccache" emerge -1v x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev

and it works as intended.

FEATURES=distcc-pump is now gone from portage.
