Description Marian Eichholz 2014-01-06 12:03:51 UTC
Hello, I'd like to mirror the gentoo sources on ftp.freenet.de for public access.

4 hrs. schedule should be no problem, 640 GB neither.

Which source mirror do You recommend for the initial pulls and scheduling setup?

are you still interested in mirroring gentoo?

Thank You very much for Your response, Alex.

Yes, I am still interesting in mirroring Gentoo for freenet.de, at least as kind of fallback/DMZ-access/buffer for the admins at our computing center, but if possible as well known public mirror, like we do for other OS sources (see ftp.freenet.de/pub/ for reference).

For the technical questions about service location and quality: Our computing center is in Düsseldorf, Germany, and we are locally connected to MD's ring backbone. ftp.freenet.de was downsized to (currently) two front ends with 2x100 MBit each. The hosts could easily fill up gigabit links on "WoW update events", but ... well we are told to avoid that :-)

We offer anonymous FTP and HTTP (no SSL due to ressource limitations).

If You need any additional information, just contact me directly, or <ftp@freenet.de>.

Yours sincerely,

Marian Eichholz
