failure on building oprofile.
as far as I can see I have no that library at all -- binutils-2.24 won't install it even w/ USE=static-libs and EXTRA_ECONF="--enable-install-libiberty" added when `binutils` builds

I have the same issue. It seems that libiberty is not included in binutils-2.24:

root@condor:/root(9)# qlist -Iv binutils 
cross-avr/binutils-2.20.1-r1
sys-devel/binutils-2.24
sys-devel/binutils-config-3-r3

root@condor:/root(10)# qlist -Iv binutils | grep libiberty
root@condor:/root(11)#
