For machines that don't have an UPS attached, but want to monitor another machine which runs apcupsd over the network, gapcmon would be very convenient as a standalone program. Currently, gapcmon builds with the "gnome" useflag. This is very confusing. It should be changed to "gtk", as this seems to be the common "build-the-gui" useflag. Furthermore, a "server" useflag should be added, that prevents apcupsd itself from being built if disabled. this would allow for gapcmon to be standalone. This would also remove the need for bug 158313.
Sorry, but I will close here. Use flag ""gnome" has been removed, as apcupsd already depends on very old removed libs, so nothing can be done anymore here, as no build of "gapcmon" anymore possible.
