If you press p again, you will notice that an * is placed in the "Boot" column. The possible correction should be: We need to make this partition bootable. Type a to toggle the bootable flag on a partition and select 2. If you press p again, you will notice that an * is placed in the "Boot" column. The possible documentation bug is instructing to toggle the bootable flag via fdisk to /dev/sda1 instead of /dev/sda2 which is the boot partition.
