Running "freshclam --no-warnings --quiet" responds with " connect(): No such file or directory" error.

Per ArchLinux ClamAV Wiki Troubleshooting, a missing file is to blame for this error.

# touch /var/lib/clamav/clamd.sock
# chown clamav:clamav /var/lib/clamav/clamd.sock

There error disappears and there seems to be no need to uncomment or add the additional line to the /etc/clamav/clamd.conf file:

LocalSocket /var/lib/clamav/clamd.sock

Oops.  Looks like /etc/clamd.conf shows this files location should be "/var/run/clamav/clamd.sock"!

As such,

# mv /var/lib/clamav/clamd.sock /var/run/clamav/clamd.sock
