The net-misc/putty ebuild (version 20040313) doesn't contain the file /usr/share/applications/putty.desktop which means that the PuTTY application doesn't show up in the Gnome menu. I will attach a file that I use (English and Swedish only). This file could(/should?) be added to the putty ebuild. From there, other PuTTY users may provide national translations to complement the file. Unfortunately, the PuTTY ebuild doesn't provide any icon that could be used in the menu, but that's something that a more artistic PuTTY user may provide. Just wanted to get another ball rolling... ;-) Gus Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge putty 2. load gnome 3. search for putty in the Gnome menu Actual Results: PuTTY does not show up in the Gnome menu. Expected Results: PuTTY should show up in the Gnome menu.
Created attachment 30433 [details] A simpe (English and Swedish only) Gnome menu definition file.
Thanks Gustav! I'll bump putty to -r1 and install your desktop file.
