With chromium-33.0.1734.0 I cannot copy and paste from / to other X11 windows.
This seems to be an old but.

Stepping back to chromium-33.0.1726.0 fixes the problem.

Did your broken version have USE=aura enabled?  I noticed the same behavior if the new aura UI is turned on.

With www-client/chromium-33.0.1734.0 built with USE=aura, the "cut buffer" (or selection buffer?) does not work from the address bar.  If you highlight a URL there then go middle click in another window, there is no result.  You also cannot middle-click to paste from the cut buffer into the chromium address bar.  I don't think this is an isolated issue, I've heard several reports.  Sorry for not reporting this sooner.

The clipboard accessed with ctrl-c or copy, and ctrl-v or paste, does work fine.

I have the same issue with X selection from/to the address bar.

Other thing: not sure if it is related to this but on my system and with chromium 33.0.1750.3 Aura (241270), I also have the following odd behavior with copy-paste (ctrl-c / ctrl-v):

chromium <=> gedit: OK in both directions

firefox  <=> gedit: OK in both directions

chromium X=> firefox: I can only copy/paste from chromium to firefox but when I copy content from firefox, nothing is pasted into chromium.

I reproduced this with 33.0.1750.18 and it is indeed Aura-specific.

Seems to work fine now in 34.0.1847.132 .
