Description Christian Strauf 2004-04-29 01:17:09 UTC
My USE flags include "ipv6" since I initially installed the machine I'm having the trouble on. I've successfully compiled Evolution 1.4.5 on it and used it to contact mail servers (IMAP & SMTP) via IPv6. I've upgraded to Evolution 1.4.6 and it seems as if IPv6 support is not working anymore.

I've verified that the servers are all working, USE flags are set correctly and connectivity is working (telnet <imap-server> 143 works via IPv6).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure IMAP/SMTP server's FQDN that resolves into an IPv6 address (AAAA record in DNS)
2. Try to open an IMAP folder or try to check supported authentication type of server in server settings or try to send email to SMTP server.
3.

Actual Results:
The following error message appears if you try to retrieve the supported
authentication types of a server (same message when you try to open a folder on
the server and same message with port 25 instead of 143 when trying to send
mails via SMTP):

Error while 'Checking Service':
Could not connect to ovaron.join.uni-muenster.de (port 143): Invalid argument

Expected Results:
Access via IPv6 should work. If using IPv4 to contact the server, everything
works as expected.

Here's the output of "emerge info":
